Origin Charges vs Destination Charges on Pakistan Freight Quotes

·4 min read·MTX Team

How to read origin vs destination charges on Pakistan air and sea quotes — THC, documentation, delivery order, and what “all-in” usually still excludes.

Shippers compare freight quotes by the big number. Disputes start when origin and destination charges appear later. On Pakistan lanes, a usable quote separates those buckets clearly.

Typical Origin (Pakistan) Lines

  • Ocean or air freight (base)
  • Origin THC / terminal charges
  • Documentation / B/L or AWB fee
  • VGM, seal, CFS, or airport handling where applicable
  • Inland haulage to port / airport if door pickup is included

Typical Destination Lines

  • Destination THC / terminal
  • Delivery order / release fees
  • Customs broker (often separate from freight)
  • Duty, tax, and exam fees (government — not forwarder margin)
  • On-carriage inland

“Door-to-door” still often excludes duty and unexpected exam costs unless the quote says otherwise in writing.

How to Compare Two Quotes Fairly

Line up:

1. Same Incoterm assumption 2. Same origin charge set 3. Same destination assumptions (or explicitly “destination collect”) 4. Same surcharge validity date

A cheaper base ocean with missing origin THC is not cheaper — it is incomplete.

MTX Quoting Stance

We itemise origin charges we control or pass through at Karachi, and we flag destination estimates as estimates when local agents have not confirmed. If your last “all-in” surprise was a destination DO fee, ask for the destination charge sheet at booking — not after arrival.
