Reefer Container Bookings from Karachi: What Shippers Miss

·4 min read·MTX Team

Reefer FCL from Karachi and Port Qasim — pre-trip inspection, genset needs inland, set-point discipline, and booking lead times shippers underestimate.

Reefer exports from Pakistan fail less often on the vessel than on prep: wrong set-point, late pre-trip inspection (PTI), or no genset plan for inland haul. Temperature-controlled cargo needs a longer booking clock than dry boxes.

Book Earlier Than Dry FCL

Reefer equipment is tighter than dry containers on many Pakistan strings. Confirm:

  • Equipment availability at the nominated depot
  • PTI slot before stuffing
  • Power availability at stuffing point and during gate-in queues
  • Carrier acceptance of your commodity and set-point

Stuffing Discipline

  • Pre-cool the box when the commodity requires it
  • Do not stuff warm product and “hope the reefer catches up”
  • Record set-point, ventilation, and humidity settings on the booking and the B/L instructions
  • Use independent temperature loggers when buyers or insurers require them

Inland Reality

Factory stuffing inland may need a genset on the road. CFS stuffing needs powered plugs and disciplined queue timing. A reefer without power in summer heat is a claim waiting to happen.

MTX Practice

We treat reefer bookings as a checklist product: equipment, PTI, set-point, power plan, and cut-off — confirmed in writing. If you ship perishables or pharma-adjacent cargo, send temperature requirements with the first booking email, not the day before gate-in.
